Miller Nash LLP partner, Iván Resendiz Gutierrez, was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington (“Girl Scouts”). Additionally, Iván continues to serve on the organization’s Board Development Committee which he joined in 2023 and helps to recruit volunteers to serve as board members, committee members, and members-at-large. Miller Nash partner, Mary Ann Frantz, has served on the Girl Scouts Board of Directors since 2013, most recently as its chair from 2021-2023, and is the current past chair. Iván is a litigation attorney serving the appellate, employment, and litigation needs of public and private clients, with an emphasis on supporting K-12 and higher education institutions and energy companies. He regularly advises private and public organizations on knotty issues, including compliance with federal, state, and local disability, discrimination, civil rights, fair housing, and public accommodations laws, including Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), Title II of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964, and employment-related issues. Before joining Miller Nash LLP, Iván served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Lynn R. Nakamoto at the Oregon Supreme Court and the Oregon Court of Appeals.
Iván is active in the Oregon community. He currently serves as cochair of the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association. He also serves as president of Legal Aid Services of Oregon and as an Executive Committee member-at-large of Oregon Law Center’s Board of Directors, allowing him to help provide high-quality legal services to low-income communities across Oregon. Iván is also a proud member of the Headwaters Council of The Freshwater Trust (TFT), an advisory group comprised of emerging business leaders, disrupters, decision-makers, and influencers who help TFT drive the next generation of creative and networked conservation and philanthropy. A past president of the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association, and current participant in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows Program, Iván enjoys mentoring new lawyers and law students and actively supports programs aimed at increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Oregon legal community.
A proud “Double Duck,” Iván received his bachelor’s degree (in psychology and political science) from the University of Oregon (B.A. ’12) before earning his law degree at the University of Oregon School of Law (J.D. ’15).
