Miller Nash LLP attorneys, Alexandra Hutchinson and Sophia von Bergen, have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Multnomah Bar Association (MBA) Young Lawyers Section (YLS).
The YLS is an inclusive section of the bar, comprised of any MBA member in practice less than six years or under the age of 36. The YLS provides leadership, networking, professional development, and service opportunities, in addition to a business development network. As directors on the board, Alex and Sophie will help guide the section’s efforts to find opportunities for growth—both professionally and within the communities that the section serves.
In 2023, Alex was appointed chair of the YLS Service to the Public Committee and Sophie was appointed as cochair of the YLS CLE Committee.
About Alexandra Hutchinson
Alex assists businesses in a wide range of corporate transactional matters. She reviews, drafts, and negotiates a variety of contracts, in addition to advising on issues related to mergers and acquisitions, franchising and sports, entertainment and media. Alex has a background in securities and business litigation, giving her a unique perspective into how businesses operate, and the protections needed to avoid disputes. She is also passionate about serving her community and currently serves on the Emerging Professionals Board of the Blanchet House and on the Ambassador Board for Youth Villages, a nonprofit serving youth who face emotional, mental, and behavioral issues and youth aging out of foster care. Alex received her bachelor’s degree from Portland State University before earning her law degree at Willamette University College of Law.
About Sophia von Bergen
Sophie is a member of Miller Nash’s litigation practice team and has experience representing clients in all phases of litigation, with a focus on complex litigation matters, business disputes, and insurance recovery for policyholders. Sophie represents businesses and individuals in state and federal courts in Oregon. Her experience representing clients as both plaintiffs and defendants allows her to analyze issues from multiple perspectives and appropriately advocate on her clients’ behalf. Additionally, she is currently serving as cochair of the Campaign for Equal Justice’s Associate Committee. Sophie received her bachelor’s degree from Occidental College before earning her law degree at Lewis & Clark Law School.
