Miller Nash LLP attorney, Alexandra Hutchinson, was recently honored with the 2024 Award of Merit by the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section (MBA YLS). The YLS Award of Merit is presented annually to lawyers in practice fewer than six years or under the age of 36 who have made significant, recent contributions to the MBA’s mission of promoting justice through service, education, or leadership to the MBA, legal profession, or community.

Alex has been an active member of the YLS since 2020, a committee that provides leadership, networking, professional development, and service opportunities, in addition to serving as a business development network. She has been a member of the Section’s Service to the Public Committee since 2022 and has been serving as committee chair since 2023. As chair of the Service to the Public Committee, Alex has helped guide the committee as they provide programs to engage young lawyers in community outreach activities that educate the public about the legal system, the positive role of attorneys in society, and the legal resources available to the community.

“It’s wonderful to see Alex recognized for her service on the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, and for her service to the Portland community,” said Kieran Curley, managing partner of Miller Nash. “We appreciate having a colleague like Alex who shares her positive attitude and excitement for service with all of us at the firm.”

In addition to her service on the MBA YLS Service to the Public Committee, Alex is also passionate about serving her community and currently serves on the Emerging Professionals Board of the Blanchet House and on the Ambassador Board for Youth Villages, a nonprofit serving youth who face emotional, mental, and behavioral issues and youth aging out of foster care. She also participates in the firm’s pro bono clinic, which is a partnership program between Miller Nash, Coos Bay Oregon Law Center, and Central Oregon Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO) established in 2022 to assist Oregonians with expunging eligible criminal convictions and dismissals.
