About James
James Johnson’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, including disputes involving insurance recovery, condemnation, and cryptocurrency fraud. James has extensive experience guiding clients through matters in state and federal courts. He has performed wide-ranging legal research, drafted motions and appeals, and deposed numerous expert witnesses. James is skilled at addressing client needs in advance of litigation and counseling clients with strategies to avoid risk. He has a proven track record of obtaining favorable outcomes through settlement, arbitration, trial, and appeal.
In addition to his commercial litigation practice, James has advised clients regarding corporate and transactional needs, and he works closely with the firm’s renewable energy team. His deep litigation background provides his clients with the unique value of drafting and negotiating complex business contracts, including nondisclosure agreements and other general business contracts.
Prior to joining private practice, James served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney at the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. In this role, he conducted 30 trials and appeared in court on a weekly basis. Additionally, James worked in the Seattle City Attorney’s Office as a Policy Aide and Municipal Court Extern.
