Liani Reeves Honored with Professionalism Award by Multnomah Bar Association

Miller Nash LLP partner, Liani Reeves, has been honored with the 2024 Professionalism Award by the Multnomah Bar Association (MBA). This award is presented to lawyers who exemplify professionalism beyond the observance of the legal profession’s ethical rules, and who serve the best interests of clients and the public in general. Those who receive this award stand out as role models who foster respect and trust among lawyers, promote the efficient resolution of disputes, and make the practice of law more enjoyable and satisfying.

Liani was recognized for her professionalism in her legal practice, as well as the numerous roles she has served throughout her career of over 20 years. Liani has worked in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors as both in-house general counsel and as outside counsel. She has represented hundreds of clients ranging from start-up businesses to the Governor of Oregon. In each case, Liani works with clients to find the best strategy and outcome for each particular case and client.

“Liani has dedicated her practice and her civic efforts to uplifting voices both in the legal community and in the numerous other community spaces that she serves,” said Kieran Curley, managing partner of Miller Nash. “We congratulate her in receiving this honor reflecting those efforts and are fortunate to have her as a colleague.”

In addition to her legal practice, Liani devotes significant time to issues involving women and minorities by actively engaging in organizations and associations throughout the community. Liani’s history of community engagement includes formerly serving as past president of the Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association and past cochair of the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association.

Over the span of her career, Liani has been recognized by organizations across the state. She received the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Oregon Commission for Women and was included on Portland Business Journal’s 2021 “Women of Influence” list. Of note, she was also named the 2023 Award of Merit recipient by the Oregon State Bar (OSB). The highest honor the OSB can bestow, the recipient is an Oregon lawyer who has made outstanding contributions to the bench, the bar, and the community at large.

About Liani Reeves
Liani is an experienced employment attorney and litigator. In addition to her extensive litigation experience, Liani is often hired as an external investigator to conduct investigations into sensitive and high-profile matters. Liani also provides advice and extensive training to employers on how to comply with their legal responsibilities and works with employers on how to embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion values in the workplace. Prior to joining Miller Nash, Liani was partner and president at an employment, labor, and employee benefits firm in the Pacific Northwest. She also served as the former general counsel to the Oregon Office of the Governor where she advised on a wide range of legal issues. Prior to working for the Governor, she spent almost a decade as an assistant attorney general and deputy chief trial counsel for the Oregon Department of Justice Trial Division, primarily handling employment matters. She received her B.A from Willamette University before earning her J.D. at Willamette University College of Law.
