Represented building materials manufacturer in pursuing claims of breach of noncompete and trade secret misappropriation against departing employees. After obtaining injunctive relief, case settled.
Represented secured creditor in the sale of assets of an oil company in Chapter 11, subsequently converted to Chapter 7. Objected to the Chapter 11 sale of real property because the creditor did not consent and the price would not satisfy the lien in full. The court denied the motion and converted the case to Chapter 7. Assisted in negotiation and obtained approval of the sale of collateral by the Chapter 7 trustee, resulting in payment of the creditor nearly in full and a large carveout for creditors of the estate.
Represented Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Inc. in its Chapter 11 reorganization and court approved sale of its business.

Obtained jury verdict in favor of university in Multnomah County Court lawsuit brought by former student asserting claims potentially infringing on institution’s discretion in academic matters.
After the successful defense of a lender liability lawsuit in which the plaintiff sought a multimillion-dollar recovery, Dick Rasmussen, executive vice president and general counsel for West Coast Bank, wrote an e-mail: "Denny is a staunch advocate who is always well prepared. * * * We can rest easy knowing Denny has our bank's best interests in mind."
Represented local manufacturer in pursuing patent infringement claims regarding light-emitting diode technology against the federal government in the United States Court of Federal Claims pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1498.
