Successfully defended one of the nation’s largest insurance brokerages on appeal in a dispute regarding the enforceability of post-employment restrictive covenants. Aitkin v. USI Ins. Servs., LLC, No. 21-35497, 2022 WL 1439128 (9th Cir. May 6, 2022).
Represented foreign company in a multimillion-dollar asset acquisition of two U.S.-based vehicle dealerships and real estate. Led multi-disciplinary team including real estate and finance team members.
Second chaired a jury trial representing an evicted woman in support of her race and religious discrimination claims against a housing facility.
Represented secured lender in Chapter 11 Subchapter V to recover pre-petition distributions by motel-operator debtor to owners.
Successfully represented public university in appeal of a tenured faculty member's dismissal for bullying and sexual harassment. The appeal was under Oregon's writ-of-review statute, and we obtained full dismissal of the appeal and affirmation of the faculty member's dismissal.
Defended a global corporation employer in an action brought by an individual involved in a car accident with an employee during work. The case was resolved on favorable terms through informal negotiations with plaintiff’s counsel.
Successfully defended a private university on appeal regarding claims for breach of contract and unjust enrichment brought by a former graduate student. Gallagher v. Capella Educ. Co., No. 21-35188, 2021 WL 6067015, at *1 (9th Cir. Dec. 20, 2021).
Represented major health-care system in western Washington State in internal consolidation of subsidiary and affiliate entities. Transaction included guidance relating to, and successful navigation of, regulatory compliance issues and considerations resulting from consolidation.
Received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Oregon States District Court, District of Oregon, for her contribution to its pro bono program in 2018.
