Represented prospective stalking-horse bidder in In re LightSquared, Inc. (Bankr. S.D.N.Y., Case No. 13-12080), in connection with $1 billion bid for the acquisition of substantially all of LightSquared’s assets.

Obtained six-figure recovery on behalf of farmer based on breach of contract.

Appellate Law

Represented utility in defense of employment discrimination lawsuit. Summary judgment for utility affirmed on appeal. Phillips v. PacifiCorp, 304 F Appx 527 (9th Cir 2008)

Right of Way/Eminent Domain

Represented transit agency in a multi-week condemnation trial. The trial involved a dispute over whether or not the transit agency’s light rail station specially benefited the adjacent property due to proximity. The jury determined the property was specially benefitted by light rail and returned a verdict that did not exceed the transit agency’s pretrial settlement offer. No fees or costs awarded to property owner. (12-Person Jury Trial)

Prior to Joining Miller Nash LLP

Served as lead counsel for the University of Oregon in negotiating and performing its role as host for the 2016 and 2020 track and field U.S. Olympic Team Trials and the Oregon22 World Athletics Championships in track and field.

Preserved millions of dollars in defense costs and potential coverage by defeating insurance company’s motion for summary judgment on its duty to defend and indemnify.
