Represented a major manufacturing company in an action brought by a former franchisee in Alaska. The plaintiff alleged that, despite having extended credit to the franchisee on multiple occasions over the course of their relationship, our client had put the plaintiff out of business by declining to extend additional credit. The case was resolved on favorable terms after mediation with a Federal District Court judge.
Recovered more than $50 million from multiple insurance companies involved in the Archdiocese of Portland bankruptcy.
Represented university on real estate issues (e.g., land acquisition and leasing) in connection with development of satellite healthcare campus.
Successfully defended national lender in equitable subordination adversary proceeding, obtaining dismissal of case (Bankr. D. Or. 2020).
Successfully represent clients in responding to and resolving BOLI complaints.
Successfully represented nonprofit client in an appeal of the denial of its property tax exemption.
Secured affirmance of a permanent stalking protective order under Oregon’s civil stalking statute (ORS 30.866) in a case involving a respondent who initiated a series of contacts with the petitioner over several months. This was a pro bono matter taken through the Oregon Appellate Pro Bono Program. C. Q. R. v. Wafula, 305 Or App 344 (2020).
Favorably resolved an Unfair Labor Practice charge brought by NLRB against small, non-unionized employer, including training for employer related to NLRA issues and concerted activities to prevent future claims.
