Archdiocese of Portland v. ACE, et al. Directed insurance recovery litigation on behalf of The Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon against various insurance companies. Successfully recovered more than $75 million from insurers for settlement of numerous tort claims. Since then, Kieran has also directed similar insurance recovery efforts on behalf of other religious organizations against their insurers.
Defended inter-lender litigation alleging that lender induced borrower to breach loan agreement with prior lender. The matter was settled on nearly identical and favorable terms that were offered by lender client before litigation began.
Schilling Livestock v. Sterling Bank. Our client won a unanimous defense award from a panel of three arbitrators after two weeks of hearings on investor claims for securities violations arising from tenant-in-common investments.
Prevailed on motion to dismiss graduate student’s federal lawsuit against public university, which lawsuit alleged race discrimination and retaliation in employment.
Negotiated and developed a $1 million client services agreement for a technology services business, which included part of the compensation taking the form of equity.
