About Dan Oates
Oates is a partner with the Seattle office of Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP, focusing his practice on franchising and distribution litigation. Oates’s litigation experience includes disputes ranging from pre-sale disclosure violations and fraud, to breach of contract claims, to post-sale relationship disputes (arising under contract or by statute). Oates has served on the editorial board of the ABA’s Franchise Law Journal since 2013, and currently serves as the editor-in-chief. He is a frequent writer and speaker on subjects relating to franchising.
About Josh Piper
Piper helps domestic and international businesses navigate the complex and diverse issues that arise in franchising, licensing, and distribution. He works with both new and established franchise systems in developing their franchise programs, preparing and improving their franchise documents, ongoing regulatory compliance, and franchise relationship issues. Piper also helps franchisors and other companies with a broad range of related business transactions and commercial issues, including advertising compliance; contests, sweepstakes, and loyalty programs; outsourcing arrangements; and mergers and acquisitions. He is a recurring speaker and author on franchise and distribution topics, and is active in the International Franchise Association and ABA Forum on Franchising.
