Miller Nash LLP is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed Diversity Lab’s Mansfield 4.0 program and has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status for 2021. The firm was one of 118 leading law firms nationwide receiving Certification under Mansfield 4.0 and one of only 92 firms receiving Certification Plus status this year.

In continuing its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, the firm is also proud to share that it is taking the next step by participating in the Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification Program (2021-2022).

The goal of the Mansfield Rule program is to boost the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for these opportunities. Mansfield Certification Plus status recognizes that, in addition to affirmatively considering in aggregate at least 30 percent women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities for recruitment, governance roles, equity partner promotions, and inclusion in formal pitch presentations to clients, the firm has also successfully reached an aggregated total of at least at least 30 percent women, minority, and LGBTQ+ lawyer representation in a notable number of leadership roles and committees.

New to the 5.0 program, Mansfield firms will be required to consider at least 30 percent of underrepresented lawyers for nominations to Chambers USA and 30 percent of underrepresented individuals when hiring and promoting C-level and other senior-level professional staff roles.

“Though there is still much work to be done, our participation in the Mansfield Rule program helped us identify some important areas to focus our efforts,” said Kieran Curley, managing partner. “We have made tangible progress and look forward to continuing our participation in Mansfield 5.0 as one avenue through which we can continue taking action and investing our resources to promote equity and inclusion within our firm, our industry, and the communities we serve.”

Participation in Mansfield 5.0 aligns with Miller Nash’s commitment to achieve genuine equity and inclusivity across its firm, all levels of management, each practice team, committees, and staffing of every project. In addition to participating in Mansfield 5.0, the firm continues to offer 1L Diversity Fellowships each summer, serves as a sponsor of the Multnomah Bar Association Fellows Program, hosts monthly Diversity & Inclusion Committee meetings, and offers regular diversity and inclusion training.

The firm remains a leader in sponsoring and participating in local minority bar association activities and events, offers fee discounts to small and emerging women and minority businesses, and continues to provide up to 150 hours of billable hour credit to attorneys for diversity and inclusion and pro bono work.
