NEWS: Miller Nash Adds Partner to Seattle Legal Team

SEATTLE – March 9, 2010 – Miller Nash LLP has welcomed John R. Knapp Jr. as its newest partner in the firm's Seattle office. Knapp, who specializes in business and bankruptcy law, joins Miller Nash's insolvency practice team, which is one of the largest practice teams in the Northwest focusing on debtor/creditor relationships, workouts, bankruptcies and responding to distressed loans. Knapp was previously a principal at Cairncross & Hempelmann, P.S.

"John is a strong addition to Miller Nash and we are pleased to bring him on as a partner," said Don Burns, managing partner. "John has extensive legal and community experience in Washington state as well as other areas of the country and will be a tremendous asset to our clients."

Knapp advises businesses and individuals on bankruptcy and commercial law matters, with an emphasis on Chapter 11 reorganization. He received his Bachelor of Science from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Knapp's experience includes representing debtors, debtors in possession, Chapter 11 trustees, receivers, creditors' committees, secured lenders, landlords, suppliers, service providers and licensors of intellectual property.

Knapp is the vice chair of the E-Commerce and Technology-Oriented Bankruptcies Subcommittee of the Business Section of the American Bar Association, and he is the co-chair of the Bankruptcy Committee for the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington state. He also served as the judicial law clerk to Judge Peter J. Walsh of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware from 1997-1998. Knapp is admitted to practice law in Idaho, Delaware and Washington state, federal district courts in those jurisdictions, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
