About Ryan
Ryan Hall’s practice focuses on representing clients in commercial construction litigation and policyholders with insurance-related issues, including insurance recovery. In his construction practice, Ryan represents owners, contractors, and public entities and regularly litigates breach of contract, construction lien foreclosure, and construction defect claims. Ryan advises commercial policyholders on a variety of insurance issues, including contractual insurance provisions, claim disputes, additional insured issues, insurance recovery, and insurance applications and renewals. Ryan has represented policyholders in complex coverage disputes throughout Oregon and Washington and has secured payment of policy benefits under commercial general liability (CGL), property, and builder’s risk policies.
In addition to his litigation background, Ryan is experienced in negotiating and drafting construction contracts, and entity formation. Ryan takes time to understand his clients’ businesses and is committed to providing thoughtful, client-centric guidance.
Prior to joining Miller Nash, Ryan practiced civil litigation and commercial law in Dallas, Texas.

Represents construction contractor in lawsuit against municipal entity for unpaid compensation on public works project (ongoing).

Guided healthcare system through forensic research, repair contracting, preservation of evidence, forensic expert reports, negotiations, and arbitration proceedings for damage claims against the general contractor and subcontractors that improperly performed exterior envelope, plumbing, electrical, and roof work to construct a new hospital for behavioral health patients and required specialty facilities. The entire exterior envelope had to be removed and replaced, together with removal and re-installation of all windows, while the hospital was occupied. Prepared, documented, and asserted claims to recover the owner’s damages after repairs were complete. Achieved a successful, multimillion dollar recovery of a substantial majority of the owner’s losses following extensive discovery, depositions, arbitration proceedings, and mediation.

Represented public school district in lawsuit brought by construction contractor claiming breach of contract and violation of Oregon’s Prompt Pay Act. The parties settled the lawsuit on terms favorable to the school district.

Obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of an Oregon homeowner in private arbitration against a residential construction contractor. The homeowner’s claims included breach of contract, fraud, and unlawful trade practices.

Assisted a local nonprofit in negotiating multilateral construction and property agreements in connection with a complex renovation project in downtown Portland.

Advises Washington-based health care system in contract negotiations with multinational construction company concerning the construction of new hospital facilities in downtown Seattle (ongoing).
